Album Review: Jethro Tull - The Zealot Gene

The Zealot Gene is the 22nd full-length studio album by the British Progressive rock band, Jethro Tull, Musically, the album is broken up with hard flute driven rockers with subtly intriguing melodies and hooks that seem to sneak up on you. The mixing and production is impeccable. The sound quality is first-rate. The playing is great, the arrangements are very good, and Ian's vocals sound very good on these songs, which obviously don't stretch his vocal limitations. Great songs with great lyrics. I wasn't expecting much from this and was pleasantly surprised with this new release, While it won't remind many of vintage Tull, it's probably Ian's best work since the Aqualung album. For a band that has been working in one form or another for 50-plus years, this album is a late career gem. Much better than I ever thought it could be. I rate this album 8/10, Solid score. The Zealot Gene by Jethro Tull (Album; InsideOut; 19439927152): Reviews, Ratings, Credits, Song list - Rate Your Music
