Album Review: Idles - Ultra Mono

Image
Ultra Mono is the third full-length studio album by the English Punk Rock band Idles, It was released on September 25, 2020,  Idles  build up always seem to be worth it, with catchy choruses and heavy  explosive instrumentals, And  Lyrics are aggressive and unapologetic throughout the album,  Always great to find good punk is not dead,  but finding bands/albums like this keep hope alive. T he lyrics are funny and punchy and delivered with a knowing sneer.  However, it did not disappoint one bit. Every song rings with awesome lyrical power,  astonishing  observation, and novel insights on real human relations and our challenges with tenderness and love for humanity that's so often missing. It r eminds me of Misfits mixed with Pavement. A fantastic  punk record which fills me with hope,  Simply put, this is arguably the most vital and relevant release in years. I rate this album a solid 9/10.  Ultra Mono by IDLES

Album Review: Amyl and The Sniffers - Amyl and The Sniffers

Image
Amyl and The Sniffers is  the self-titled full-length debut studio album by Australian punk rock band Amyl and The Sniffers, It was released on May 24, 2019.  Incredible punk rock outta Australia. It Has a 70s sound but is modernized for today. Excellent riffs and driving  persistent  beat sounds like Blondie mixed with the Sex Pistols, throw in some Iggy and The Stooges and AC/DC (Bon Scott era). No bad songs on the album.    This Aussie band features the snarl and scream vocal stylings of Amy Taylor lead vocalist. The record rips relentlessly from start to finish. Guitarist Dec Martens employs not only power chords but adds some pretty good licks as the band powers through their very solid debut full length.  This is such a breath of fresh air and s tumbled upon this band by accident, I was impressed with the upbeat  energy production,  Punk genre as it should always be: loud but melodic, chaotic but fresh. I highly recommend this record, I rate this album 10/10. Amyl and The Sniff

Album Review: Yellow Days - A Day in a Yellow Beat

Image
A Day in a Yellow Beat is the second full-length studio sophomore album by British Musician Yellow Days, It was released on September 18, 2020.  A raw and soulful listen from beginning to end, A Day In a Yellow Beat is well produced while still maintaining a spacing that many others in this genre fail to consider.  Yellow days  possesses an amount of soul greater than the distillation of a thousand lives. You hear it in these songs. There's no way this kid has lived long enough or seen enough things to feel these emotions so thoroughly and completely and yet, here we are. Amazingly heartfelt compositions. The best second recording I've ever heard. It assimilates  soul, funk, jazz, and various points between quench synths burble leads, horns arrangments & drums, The spirit  is groovy, mellow, mostly  sanguine , and positive. Also Collaborating with different musicians Mac Demarco, Shirley Jones, Nick Walters & Bishop N ehru. I highly recommend this record who enjoys soul

Album Review: Mirror Trash - Better days

Image
Better day is the second sophomore full-length studio album by UK Indie Rock Mirror Trash, It was released on January 29, 2020,  These young individuals are great musicians and the entire album is special. The vocals, musical instruments, and lyrics are amazing. they still remind you the Indie Rock is what they are all about.  I appreciate the amazing guitar skills and the very distinct and jangly guitar tone, I t's so mellow and enjoyable to listen too,  As far as I can hear this is the album where Mirror Trash transcends their influences and bolts together with a distinctive sound of their own. A smooth and interesting experience. When listening to them, you don’t just hear the guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. You hear the sound of youth and the melody of hope and  I think they’re more melodic and charismatic, and their songs flow better and create more of a dynamic feel,  I highly recommend this record to anyone who loves indie rock, I rate this album 10/10. Album Review: Electric Youth - Memory Emotion

Image
Memory Emotion is the third full-length studio album by Canadian Synthpop Duo Electric Youth, It was released on  August 9, 2019.  This record has some very good tracks on it. If you like the first one, then this one isn't that different on a sonic level. I think most fans will be pleased, but it definitely has a  distinctive  vibe from their previous project. I really like Higher, ARAWA and Now Now. Electric Youth are known for being a more mellow, atmospheric kind of group,  An exceptional  trinity  effort from Electric Youth, the release brings back nostalgic feelings of 80's synthpop, but Bronwyn Griffin's ethereal voice soothes while Austin Garrick provides positive and uplifting sounds that mix the mentioned synthpop with electronic and instrumentals.  What sets this release apart for me is it's almost  completely  uplifting and positive sound. There's something of a dose of drama, but nothing dark and  feeling positive and let the soothing melodies wash over

Album Review: Bob Dylan - Rough and Rowdy Ways

Image
Rough and Rowdy Ways is the 39th full-length studio album by American singer Bob Dylan, It was released on June 19, 2020,  An album of new Bob Dylan tunes is a special  surprise ,  At 79, the magnificent, always unpredictable Bob Dylan, one of the greatest artists of my lifetime, has given us after an eight-year wait, another wondrous studio album of ten new tracks,   There’s a bluesy feel to many of the songs, and a few are lyrical and  totally , disarmingly  aesthetic. Bob  Dylan erupts with words that evoke feelings of confusion, chaos, anxiety, and our/his never-ending desire for love and meaning and purpose.  This album feels like it has weight. It has value. Has the potential to be a timeless modern masterpiece. I highly recommend this record who huge Bob Dylan fan, it won't disappoint you & give it a listen, I rate this album 10/10.

Album Review: Post Animal - Forward Motion Godyssey

Image
Forward Motion Godyssey is the second sophomore full-length studio album by American Psychedelic rock/Progressive pop band Post Animal, It was released on February 14, 2020.  honestly, this is one of the best albums I've heard in years. It's the intersection where huge ambition and tons of talent meet. This new record definitely takes multiple listens to all the way through to appreciate their inventive and unique sound.  this one has a very cool feel, almost like you are listening to a sci-fi old-time film soundtrack,  sets their  experiential  questioning to a  fiercely  kinetic heavy sound with a psychedelic rock element, Extracting  inspiration from genres as  dissimilar  as electronic and psych-rock,   The production of the sound and the way it is draped and layered it sounds distant and feels like Rush & Genesis early work from the 1970s & Also reminds me of Tame Impala as well. T he way it melts your mind as you listen. Sober or under the influence this is a well

Album Review: Carla dal Forno - Look Up Sharp

Image
Look Up Sharp is the second sophomore   full-length studio album by Australian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, Carla del Forno, it was released on October 4, 2019, This record has been on replay, I love her minimalism hypnotic and yet, at times it's really mysterious and dark straightforward lyrics,  Stunning second album. atmospheric songs from start to finish. 80's inspired post-punk & experimental electronic dream-pop with a  gratifying melodic   profundity, Her music and production are distinctive minimal but deceptively composite it gets better with each listen.   She maintains her loose  connection  with different genres,  pulses with a  peculiarly   miry  texture, the bass tone squelching beneath  progressively  dense layers of synthesizer and raw  boom-bap drum pattern, I highly recommend this record if you like errie dark gloomy music and I think you might enjoy this,   I rate this record 10/10.   Look Up Sharp by Carla dal Forno

Album Review: Tricky - Fall to Pieces

Image
Fall to Pieces is the fourteenth studio full-length album by trip-hop musician Tricky, it was released on September 4, 2020. it's featuring special guest appearances Marta and Oh. Land.  Warning though, this set of songs is ineffable. If you like complexity and dense unexpected rhythms and melodic twists, this isn't for you.  It is moody, plangent and slightly dark but also  aesthetic .  It is also deceptively simple moving music,  saving grace is it's an earnestness to evolve and grow is more palpable than anything I've heard from any post-trip-hop act. A wonderful piece of music,   I didn't expect this to turn out this good in today's underground platform, I highly recommend this record who enjoy this type of music genre, it translates privation into an instant of nauseatingly raw exposed emotion in this entire record, I rate this album solid 9/10. Fall to Pieces by Tricky

Album Review: The Killers- Imploding the Mirage

Image
Imploding the Mirage is the sixth full-length studio album by American rock band The Killers, It was released on August 21, 2020.  Imploding the Mirage is in keeping with what I expect out of a Killers album, great production, great writing, excellent musicianship, and singing.  The lyrics are distillations of feeling matured into pure poetry, the music powerful in both you hear the roar and rush of the wind, There's plenty of synth, and it's clear that lead singer Brandon Flowers was influenced by U2, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and the beauty of the  craggy  American West landscape which the band has called home for many years now.   Brandon's voice is as strong as ever, and the arrangements are  outstanding . Lyrically there's plenty of love, loss, and spiritual soul-searching, as is common to most Killers records .  It’s has a strong late 70s/80s new wave vibe. I rate this album solid 10/10.

Album Review: Bebel Gilberto - Agora

Image
Agora is a brand new studio full-length bossa nova album by Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto, It was released on August 21, 2020. Bebel never fails to notice the great moment, we all have been trained to pass by and transform it into a beautiful typical music landscape. One of her finest works, Bebel surrounded herself with the best musicians to help her create this record,  She has found the style she is most comfortable with and made a complete album that focuses on her strengths: light, relaxed bossa nova sounds and her seductive, breathy alto voice & e legant distorted orchestration, a new favorite for today's music. the one thing about Bebel's music is that the precise meaningful lyrics she delivers are just incredible simplicity at its best, I highly recommend this album to anyone who loves serene relaxing bossa nova music, you will enjoy it & cherish this composition forever, I rate this record a solid 10/10 .

Album Review: Moses Sumney - Græ

Image
Græ is the second full-length studio album by African American singer Moses Sumney, it was released on May 15, 2020, Amazing  album, It reminds me of Bjork's arrangements with a hint of Bowie's Blackstar darker quieter moments. There are  transition  moments of real surreal music and ambience, fascinating use of synths and processed electronic textures mixed with some acoustic guitar and organic music instruments, I've been hooked on Moses since I discovered polly this summer, A true ethereal discovery in this modern-day generation, Now the album's finally here it's everything I expected and more,  The music itself is wonderfully mellow and melancholic. The tracks are well thought out and deep, yet are not distracting if you need something on in the background. A nd Moses has a very unique singing voice that doesn't sound like anyone else. His lyrics are thought-provoking and passionate. What a huge ride from beginning to end, the music production is right up my
