Album Review: Monophonics- It's Only Us

It's Only Us is the fifth studio full-length album by American Soul group Monophonics, It was released on March 13, 2020. Monophonics are most definitely a keystone, even coming from out in California, A superb album by a band of strangers. Amazing; all the songs in this album are excellent. Classic vintage Motown sound that blends heavy psychedelic soul and psych-rock, Monophonics have built a reputation over the past decade, It feels great when you would hear these songs isn’t wasn’t about greed, infidelity, money, or violence it was a beautiful sound that made you happy to be alive. also pulling influences from such acts as early Funkadelic, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Sly, and The Family Stone. A soul record that smokes from start to finish is an interesting ride. A simpler time. A time when music wasn't offensive or hateful. the messages of love, caring, surviving guilt, and anguish tap right into your soul. while concurrently raising questions about the state of music in 2020 and what the future might hold, I highly recommend this record, please check it out. I rate this 10/10.
