Album Review: Kit Sebastian - Melodi

Image
Melodi is the second full-length studio album from alternative duo Kit Sebastian, it was released on October 1, 2020. Great album! Incredible production and execution. On rotation since yesterday. it has a vintage throwback  sound while plunging  to it's musical roots in modern age psychedelic pop. It  will instantly recognize their unique  concept  that  softens  the  extremities   of world music, jazz, and psychedelia. but it is not a  nostalgic   admiration . It  salutes  its main  impact  but is very much a modern  contemporary  record, being simultaneously brand new and retro. This is a credit to the duo’s craft as musicians and songwriters, presenting their influences as a circular interaction between the present and the past rather than a linear one.   The album explores universal themes such as love, loss, language, and ideology.  This  expedition  is powerful in musical vitamins and  sustenance , but like all the best things still leaves you wanting more.  Like with many o

Album Review: BadBadNotGood- Talk Memory

Image
Talk Memory is the fifth studio full-length album by Canadian jazz group BadBadNotGood . It was released on October 8, 2021,  After a 5-year gap between albums, Canadian jazz instrumental group BadBadNotGood returns with a big slice of jazz fusion on their latest Talk Memory. The boys have always shown great  mastery  as a jazz fusion quartet, but this time they don’t focus too much on hip hop leaning beats and grooves of their previous albums, but rather go with something wilder that looks back into the past for inspiration. There are still many strong melodies found here that highlight the best tracks,   being a big highlight for the phenomenal string arrangements of Arthur Verocai found on a large majority of the other tracks. This is the first release without founding member Matthew Tavares who departed in 2019 and It almost seems like the rest of the guys dug down and showed they  could continue working without him,   This record has got to be their most underrated piece of art t

Album Review: Ministry - Moral Hygiene

Image
New ministry album, Moral Hygiene  is the fifteenth full-length studio album by the American I ndustrial Metal  band  Ministry , it was released on October 1, 2021.  But I think that is an unrealistic expectation for Ministry. Al has always been in your face, and as much as the truth of current events is shocking, Al is there; in a shocking way. While defiance has become common place in the world, in the 1980's "In case you didn't feel like showing up - live" Al was screaming lyrics people wouldn't dare say.  I can appreciate the eclectic mix of sounds familiar to Ministry of old while hearing him in his age not be afraid to let each track have an identity. He has always called people to question authority, in this album, it is almost over; as he cries "get ready to die" I can't help but feel his challenge the youth to clean it up.  But this one is better. With Believe Me there is a total goth rock song on it where Al actually sings. Haven't hear
