Album Review: The Avalanches - We Will Always Love You

We Will Always Love You is the third studio full-length album from the Australian group The Avalanches it was released on December 11, 2020. The Avalanches (Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi) members released their second studio album, Wildflower, in 2016. As the album came 16 years after their debut Since I left you, the electronic group felt they now had a fresh clean slate to work on new music material, This is an absolutely wonderful album.  but I wouldn't take away a single day for this beauty. Musically, the album is very similar to the album cuts (i.e., the "not singles") from their previous album and flows very well.  Getting through that, what we think the band owes us, this is fantastic. In-the-pocket feels throughout, kind of a staple of lo-fi dance, pop, electronic but it's even more appreciated with the patented Sampledelia sound. The Avalanches have generated wonderful soundscapes, so distinct, they can only be described as the sound of The Avalanches. We will always love you is an album that rewards multiple listens, there is so much going on in the mix. The only thing that I am not so keen on would be some of the vocal contributions. They detract too much from some of the sublime turntablism that’s going on. I rate this album 10/10.
